Delete your account and data

How to have your ZLA workspace and the data held with it erased — what goes, what we are obliged to keep, and how long it takes.

Make a request

Email us from the address the account is registered under. That address is how we verify the request — we cannot act on a deletion request sent from an address we do not recognise.

Include the workspace name, the account email, and whether you want everything deleted or only part of it — conversations, a specific recipient's records, or one user of the workspace. We confirm in writing once it is done.

Who can ask

Two different people arrive at this page, and the answer is different for each.

If you are a ZLA customer

You have a workspace and you sign in to the portal or to ZLA Inbox. You can ask us to delete your account, your workspace, or the whole thing. Only an owner of the workspace can ask for the workspace itself to be deleted.

If a business messaged you on WhatsApp

You are not our customer — you are a customer of the business that sent the message, and they hold your details. We deliver messages on their behalf.

  • To stop the messages: reply STOP in that WhatsApp conversation. It takes effect immediately, on our side as well as theirs. START resumes them.
  • To have your details erased: contact the business directly — they are the data controller and only they can delete their own records of you. Ask us and we will delete what we hold on their behalf and tell them you asked, but we cannot erase you from their systems.
  • If you cannot identify the business: write to us with the WhatsApp number that messaged you and roughly when, and we will identify them and pass your request on.

What is deleted

On a full workspace deletion, all of the following are permanently removed. This cannot be undone.

Data What it is
Account and sign-in Your name, email address, password hash and every active session
Conversations Customer replies still inside the 3-day retention window, and the replies your staff sent
Send history The messages you sent, their recipients and their delivery statuses
Consent records Opt-ins, opt-outs and the consent ledger for your workspace
Templates and QR codes Your message templates and consent QR codes held here
Credentials API keys, and the encrypted WhatsApp Business access token for your account
Your business page The public page at app.webocode.me/{your-tag}, and its opt-in form
API call logs The record of calls your systems made to our send API

What we keep, and why

Two things survive a deletion request. We would rather say so plainly than promise an erasure we do not perform.

  • Billing records. Invoices and the usage totals behind them are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, reduced to what an invoice needs — period, quantity and amount.
  • Encrypted backups. Deleted data can remain in routine backups for a short period until those backups are rotated out. Backups are never used to restore a deleted account, and the data is not reachable in the running service once deletion is complete.

Separately, message content that has already been delivered exists inside WhatsApp itself, on your phone and on your customer's. Deleting your workspace here has no effect on either — Meta's retention is governed by their own terms.

What is already deleted automatically

Some of it goes without you asking:

  • Incoming customer messages — 3 days. Deleted nightly, and not configurable.
  • Inbound attachments — never stored. Photos, documents and voice notes are fetched from WhatsApp when you open them.
  • API call logs — purged monthly.
  • Sign-in and password-reset links — single use, and expire.

Deleting the app

Removing ZLA Inbox from your phone signs that device out and clears the session from the device keychain. It does not delete your account or any data on our side — for that, send the request above. Accounts are created and closed in the web portal, not in the app.
